about

(WANING) Sacramento

(waning) began life as a dark ambient duo consisting of Susan Hunt and Jim Willig. After many CDr releases, the duo found strict ambient music to be limiting, and added drummer Scott De Medeiros, with whom they recorded Always Ending. The band continues with new members Benjamin Carpineta and Ian Black. (waning)’s sound has expanded, tying together strains of doom, post-punk, and shoegaze. ... more

Track Name: Prologue (Avarice)
Through the sky,
Silver boned wings.
To the west,
Eyes glimmer

Here I'll build my throne,
We can't all wear the crown.
Dreams of a gilded tomb,
Lull me to my slumber.
Track Name: The Silver Woman
She of Golden Blood
She of Silver Bone
She who's buried here
Her body means our throne

Let me be, let me sleep
I'll return to my home

She of Golden Blood
She of Silver Bone
An unnatural thing
Her grave godless

Could it be, is there one
I could lead to my home?

Drop your shovels boys, leave this hallowed ground
Gold is yours to go

Come with me, oh kind one
Your reward will follow
Track Name: Seismic
Leave a scar
in the earth
Crack, crumble
Death Rattle

Flood brings a sea,
scar disappears
A path ends,
old world is drowning

Collapse and then flood in
You cleanse us when you drive
Your hands into the earth
Destruction brings new life
We are open
We are free

Backs to the flood, we walk on
Track Name: The Grove/Rootless
Our roots below, our leaves above
We ageless ones will grant reward
Your life will end, for life unending
But is our gift a poison to you?

No roots below, no leaves above

You walk with me, not bound to earth
You walked with me, but I cannot follow

Your kindness back at the headstone
has revealed my secret
I promised you your reward
And now you spit into my face

You walk with me, not bound to earth
You walked with me, but I cannot follow
Track Name: The Funeral Mountains
Black swan flies south
On wings of avarice
Best to follow
Leave her wooden dreams
Motionless is death
Glimmer is life
Long for a Grave Dreamless
Not a life insane

Lost, she wanders alone
Forever under the swirling skies
Everything is gone
Centuries pass in the blink of an eye
Perpetual loneliness
Falling deeper into the void
Dreams of whispering empire
Have been completely destroyed
Never to feel a comforting touch
Never to hear another kind word
Condemned to this endless night
Sentenced to never again be heard

Gone from me, no return
Your arms seek wealth but will find death

Long for a Grave Dreamless
Not a life insane
Track Name: Epilogue (Block Out the Sun)
The Sun slips through the leaves
No marker here for you
I feel your bones beneath my roots
Then I rise and walk away

Those who came after cut us down
The Ancient Ones no longer live
And I can only walk for so long
Before the black wings block out the sun

And I can only walk for so long
Before the black wings block out the sun
